Stop Chasing the Past…

It’s been quite the journey since we repatriated back to the US – very easy to get back into the same rut and “time suck” of every day life (hence no update for the past 15 months…). But, my family found it more challenging than we thought to re-integrate back… After almost 3 years living in India, it was hard to re-adjust as we were looking for the same excitement, craziness, and spontaneity. So much so that we transferred shortly thereafter from Colorado to Florida to start a new adventure.

While we definitely experienced what Florida had to offer, we realized we made a mistake thinking we could replicate what we had overseas. It’s just not possible as the more you try to re-create what “was”, you’ll end up disappointed trying to perfect the “is”. While I do not recommend the “schizophrenic” moves, I will say this. If we did not move, we would have never learned this lesson and suspect we would always be questioning “what is missing”?

Realizing we were chasing the past, we made the difficult decision to move back to Colorado and reset our expectations and what truly fulfills us – family, career opportunities, and active lifestyle which Colorado best provides for us. We are fortunate we are able to transfer back with relatively little disruptions. But the lesson learned is to “stop chasing” and define paradigms that align with your personal growth and situation. Sometimes a new mindset and attitude is all that it takes, and we are at peace knowing that.

Life is good 🙂
